Capacity To Erode Shorelines
The University of Minnesota Study of Waves found wakesurf boat waves pack up to 9 times more energy and up to 12 times more wave power than non-wakesurf recreational boats used for waterskiing, tubing, cruising. Based on the university's research findings, we are advocating for a Lake Minnetonka regulation prohibiting wakesurfing within 700 ft of shore and docks
Prop Wash Causing Resuspension of Lakebed Sediment
The University of Minnesota is planning to study this issue. A study conducted by Alex Pay of Western Colorado University published on August 20, 2020, concluded prop wash from wakesurf boats may disturb lakebed sediments at depths of up to 33 ft.
